Application Instructions:
The Mendocino County Farm Bureau Scholarship award is to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry or in an agricultural related field. The scholarship award is based on scholastic achievement, career goals, leadership skills, extracurricular activities and a commitment to study agriculture.
** Please note: the 2025 online application is the only version that will be accepted **
Your application must be accompanied by the following items:
- Current Official School Transcript
- Transcript must be sealed by the school registrar and delivered to the Mendocino County Farm Bureau office
- Completed original applicant essay (typed)
- Two current letters of recommendation (see specific instructions on application)
The online application will not allow you to submit your application without these items. An application submitted after March 15th WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
If, for some reason, official transcripts cannot be submitted with your application, but are POSTMARKED BY MARCH 15th, the items will be included in your application packet for consideration. However, please make all efforts to have transcripts delivered by March 15th. Transcripts should be mailed to: Mendocino County Farm Bureau, 455 E Gobbi Street, Ukiah, CA 95482.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any full-time college student, who is a resident of Mendocino County entering or attending an accredited trade school, college or university; or enrolled in a Mendocino County Community College; and majoring in an agricultural-related field.
CAN I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP FOR AN ADVANCED DEGREE PROGRAM?
Our policy for funding a scholarship for an advanced degree (Masters, PhD, Vet School, etc.) is a one-time award and must be in an agricultural related field. Proof of acceptance into an advanced degree program must be provided with a completed scholarship application. The student must have been awarded a Mendocino County Farm Bureau scholarship within the prior past two years before entering an advanced degree program and will not be considered if more than two years have passed since undergraduate graduation. Applicants who have been previously awarded a Mendocino County Farm Bureau scholarship for an advanced degree will not be eligible to re-apply even if the application is within the two-year time frame listed above.

WHAT CRITERIA IS USED TO SELECT A RECIPIENT?
The award is made based on scholastic achievement, career goals, leadership skills, current extracurricular activities, and a commitment to study agriculture.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?
All information requested on the application must be submitted on or before March 15th. We will not process documents after this date.

Can you apply for a scholarship for each year of continuing education?
Yes, the Mendocino County Farm Bureau scholarship is available to qualified applicants to support multiple years of continuing education. Past recipients are encouraged to re-apply each year if they meet eligibility requirements. For advanced degrees, see note above regarding scholarship qualifications.
HOW ARE FINALISTS SELECTED?
A group of finalists will be selected for an interview with the Mendocino County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee. These interviews usually take place in April. Finalists will be notified of the date, time and place of the interview in the notice of selection.
Finalists should understand that they might not have more than two weeks advance notice of the interview date.

Applications and accompanying documents (except official transcripts as described above) submitted after March 15th will not be considered.
Please Note: The completeness and quality of the application will be judged along with the oral interview portion.
